This is the magazine advert i made using photoshop, I'm happy with the result and think it looks fairly professional. It promotes the single and also I decided to use HMV as the company selling it as it is a brand which is well known and available more so many young people shop their which promotes it further.

Still images from different videos on the side so the viewer knows what to expect in the DVD. There is the year follwed by the music video and number so people know which order there favourite song is playing and also so when buying DVD they know whats on the DVD. '93:99' on the front and back cover showing viewer that the songs range from her career since 1993-1999. There is section saying who took photo, the art directer and producer so they can have credit towards video.
There is DVD information including an age certificate, logos of companies involved as well as the official 'DVD logo'. There is a bar code and copyright info and a warning at the bottom talking about the DVD being copyrighted. There us also reference to the manufacturers of the DVD.
Again this just shows her name and the title of the dvd using eye catching colours.

The front cover of the dvd has a portrait of madonna wearing cultural clothing and her name as well as the name of the dvd with graphics behind her.
Larger image of image on back inside the case. Probably so people can see the picture of her by herself without the writing.

The same picture on the back has been copied to the inside, behind the disc. The disc has on the title, the certificate, running time, the logos, various company names and the date; these are here to own the DVD to the box, if it gets lost we can tell that its official. On the left hand side there are leaflets, one of advertisements of her other CDs and DVDs including a website, and the other one more to do with advertisements of other artists.

Stills from the music

Genre characteristics:

- As the genre is Pop, but mellow they definitely match their atmosphere with the 3 girls and soft setting of the sky and feminine clothes which are light colours.

Visual and Lyrics:

There wasn't much matching of action and lyrics except hand gestures to themselves with the music.

Visual and music:

- The green room made their visual limited, as there is no beat change in the song so they couldn't make much variety.

Need to sell the artist:

- They sold themselves as individual artists by being in their own shot. As they sang their own parts it gave them each their own look.

Voyeurism:

- Their video is calming to watch which can be pleasurable for people.

Analysis

Good use of the green screen, the music is calm and the background suits it very well.
Good lip syncing and movement with the music. Towards the end it seems to go out of sync.
Different camera shots, varying from extreme close up to mid shot.
At various occasions you lean against the wall which seems to be a cloud :P

review

Genre characteristics - It matches the conventions of a pop video well because it focuses on the singing aspect also the video has a bright background meant to inspire happiness. Also the acting is quite dramatic.

Visuals/Lyrics - At the beginning the song mentions the hand and she holds up her hand and then it mentions heart and she puts her hand on her heart.

Visuals/Music - It's a dreamy song and there is a dreamy background. When the song gets emotional we see the group members also getting emotional.

Need to sell artist - It's promoting the band quite equally because it gives an equal amount of screen time to all the members of the group. Focuses on selling their singing ability because there's not really a lot of dancing.

Intertextuality - There are no references to other media.

Voyeurism - The video doesn't promote anything other than the artists singing ability.

Feedback from P3-14

It meets the Goodwin points because the music to visual setting the video is in, is really good and clear, having a sky setting fits in with the genre of the song because it is slow melody and also relaxed. The timing of the visual to lyrics was good for the majority. The timing of the lip syncing in the last persons part was out of time and you could see this really clearly. It meets the genre because it is a slow pop song and a very dreamy love setting, also the characters were wearing dresses and nothing to over the top which helped it seem more relaxed, and there dancing was slow and minimalistic.

The 6 Goodwin Points (Eternal Flame)

Genre Characteristics: - Our chosen song Eternal Flame is in the pop genre, we have shown this in many ways including: The little girl group of three, The cute rotating outfits, The make-up, and of course by using the green room we can edit the background which is often something you will see in female pop videos eg like in 'Thankyou' by 'Jamelia' and 'No Good Advice' by 'Girls Aloud'.
Visual/ Lyrics: - The most important words are eternal flame so we defiantly had to create some kind of link with this, we are going to change the background during the chorus to flames of fire. We were also going to use some candles to link in with flame as they're more subtle and link in more with love but we forgot to bring these in. We didn't have the time to do our rain idea although we could all somethin watery into the background using green screen.
Visual/ Music: - When there was more passion in the music and it built up we tried to immitate this.
Need to Sell the Artist: - We did this by showing off our clothes and done up images, making ourselves look nicer than usual. We also sold ourselves as a group by all singing and standing together for the main chorus, singing solo also gave the viewers a chance to get to know the band members individually.
Intertextuality: - We didn't really involve any other media.
Voyeurism: - The revealing clothing allows others to see more of our body than usual.

The Mise-en-Scene (Eternal Flame)

Costume: - We were all going to dress up in fancy clothes, something stylish, feminine and sexy. Music videos tend to show off the artists outfits and these tend to switch throughout to keep the audience engaged and inspired. We will bring two different outfits each.
Make-Up: - Our make-up will be done more 'made up' than usual to make us look flawless and glamorous.
Lighting: - Pure lighting, bright white.
Colour: - We will be keeping things very bright and colourful, because of our bright lighting we can work the colours well.
Setting: - We will be doing all of our filming in the green room and from there we will edit the background into things like flames and cloudy skys.
Props: - We might have some candles if we are allowed these in the green room but this is just something to try. We are planning to use a fan but this will not visible be in the shot, it'll be used to blow wind at us making the scene seem more floaty and dreamy.

"You wanna what" test edit

Today we listened to "you wanna what" and put together a music video using already made video. We noticed that some of the lip singing was out of sync but we were able to cut into the video and add parts of the other videos to interlink between the two. Also we noticed when they thought it was the end of the music video they chatted and laughed which meant we had to cut the video short. Learning from this we will make sure ours is in sync with the music and no messing about between the end of the music video scenes. There wasn't many different shot types however in the limited time we have to film our test part we will try to incorporate different shot types to bring diversity into our video. We liked that they used different locations in their music video and that made the video overall more interesting, this gave us a lot of footage to edit from.
Locations

We are going to film some of the video in the black room and also in the room with the green screen. For the green screen we are going to add the background of a city to make us look like gangsters.

Costumes

We will both wear baggy clothes which will consist of jogging bottoms and we will wear some well known brands on top for our t shirts and put some bling on too.

Props

we will try and get strobe lights, we will get glow sticks, we are also going to usespeakers.

Eternal flame pitch

1st Idea: -

- Over the shoulder shot of the singer looking into their past fighting with a lover, this would be shown using projection done in a flashback form. Pan shot around fight scene, perhaps freezing at a dramatic point whilst the singer carries on eg. a vase being thrown and smashed.
- Hense the word 'rain' repeated in the chorus we had the idea of sitting/standing in the shower allowin the water to rain down upon us whilst we're singing.
- The use of candles everywhere, in past (shown in projection) and present.
- A slight blue tint to the colour, this is a very calming.

2nd Idea: -

We realised not only was our first idea a bit over ambitious for a 1 minute lip synching task but it was more of a positive love ballad.

- A ring of white candles around us whilst we're singing, keeping it simple but effective.
- Maybe include some rain scene (with this weather i doubt any luck)
- Use the blue screen to have a big flame behind us burning whilst a fan is blowing our hair making it seem all floaty and dreamy whilst linking in with the lyrics.
